Take a Break from The Daily Grind: Our 3 European Getaways

We all understand the hardships one might face in their place of work: an annoying dress code, lack of air-con, tea & coffee stocks depleting at an ever-increasing rate (just to name a few!). If either of these terrible burdens are bestowed upon your hardy shoulders, or even all three, you need to cut yourself some slack!

However, hold-fire, we’re not talking about ‘taking a nice long weekend to put your feet up at home’, all the while time still turns, burning your chill time away before you can blink twice. No, we’re talking about more than a quick breath of fresh air; new people, experiences and memories are what you need to get that storm cloud off of your head! So here we have it, Henry J’s top 3 European city getaways, guaranteed to have you feeling fresh and beaming when you walk back into work.

Prague

Prague is a beautiful city, and can be enjoyed and explored for days on end. Retaining its rustic charm throughout the year, it proves a popular destination for all manner of tourists and holiday-goers.

Taking a weekend away to Prague gives you just the right amount of time to see the sights without much of a rush. Two of the more prominent locations to visit have to be the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, you should be able to cover both in a day, with time for a spot of lunch inbetween.

The wonder of this city is there are always things to do and places to be, whether it be a leisurely stroll through the streets of Lesser Town, Old Town and Hradčany, or an alcohol-fueled escapade to some of the lively nightclubs. One such club is Roxy, highly regarded as one of the best venues in town, especially if you like to party hard and dance till 5am!

On the flipside, a pleasant lunch or evening meal in the residential area of Vinohrady gives you a less “touristy” experience of what Prague has to offer. A trip to Prague is a unique and great way to spend a weekend, and will give you a well-needed de-stressing.

Indulge in a bit of wildlife with a visit to Dublin Zoo, take a picnic down to the idyllic Phoenix Park or have yourself a shopping spree on Grafton Street, one of the principal shopping streets in the city. For nature enthusiasts, a walk through St. Stephens Green might be just the thing for you; it has a wide selection of flora on display, as well as stunning water features, accommodated by more ducks than you could count! All in all, Dublin is another European gem well worth a visit.
